Free Home Security Matching · All 50 States Mon–Fri · 9am–7pm ET Not a security company, a free matching service Email Us

Security Help Guide is a free service that connects homeowners with local security companies and installers. We are not a security company, alarm dealer, or monitoring provider, and we do not sell, install, or monitor security systems.

The short answer

Install it yourself when it is one or two wireless cameras: mount, pair in the app, and test in minutes. Hire a professional for wired or PoE systems, several cameras, high or tricky mounting, or hidden cabling and planned coverage. The choice comes down to camera count, whether wiring is involved, and your comfort with tools and networks.

Common Questions

DIY vs. Professional: questions people ask

Is Security Help Guide a security company?

No. We are a free matching service. We are not a security company, alarm dealer, or monitoring provider, we connect you with vetted local companies and installers who do that work.

What does it cost to use?

Nothing. Our service is free for homeowners and renters. The companies in our network pay us when we refer you, so you are never charged for the connection.

Do I have to sign a contract or buy anything?

No. There is no obligation. You can compare options, talk to a company, and walk away. Whether you buy equipment or sign up for monitoring is entirely your choice.

Do I need professional monitoring?

Not necessarily. Many systems are self-monitored, you get the alerts yourself, at little or no monthly cost. Professional monitoring, commonly about $20 to $60 a month, adds a center that can dispatch help. We explain both so you can choose.

Can you help with both cameras and alarms?

Yes. Whether you want a video doorbell, an outdoor camera system, a full alarm, or a mix, we connect you with local companies that handle your kind of job, for a home or a business.
